David Prowse Will Not Be At Celebration V

The actor who brought Darth Vader to life in the Original Star Wars trilogy, Dave Prowse has been asked by Lucasfilm not to appear at Star Wars Celebration V, according to a post on the Official Dave Prowse Website.

It is with regret that I have been informed by my friends at C2 Ventures, Ben and Phillip, that I am not to be invited to C5 this year or any other Lucas Film associated events. After enquiring, the only thing I have been told is that I have "burnt too many bridges between Lucas Film and myself" - no other reason given.

According to Phillip Wise of TheForce.net this does actually seem to be the case. "Lucasfilm does have the right to prevent celebrity invitations to official Star Wars conventions and they did exercise this right as it relates to Dave Prowse and Celebration V."
From our research the rift between Mr. Prowse and Lucasfilm stems from a dispute over net profits from 1983's Return Of The Jedi. The entire situation is quite unfortunate considering that the entire stated purpose behind Celebration V is to remember the momentous achievement of Empire Strikes Back. It really makes you wonder what Empire Strikes Back, or Return Of The Jedi for that matter, would have been like without the sinister and larger than life physical portrayal of Darth Vader by Mr. Prowse.
